A New Voice from Otto Link
The Otto Link New Vintage Slant hard rubber tenor mouthpiece sports a slightly smaller bore size than the current Tone Edge. At its best it is poised between traditional Slants and Early Babbitt pieces. It has more projection and upper partials than the Phil-Tone Custom Tone Edge.
From the factory these pieces suffer many problems presented in the majority of mass produced mouthpieces. A critical design flaw is that the tip rail curvature does not match any modern reed. In conjunction with other issues this rapidly degrades tone and response. Phil-Tone correct these errors delivering a strong playing Link with excellent articulation and response.
The Phil-Tone Custom New Vintage Slant is an excellent choice for the player looking for that classic Link sound with a bit of added punch.
